LEBANON, OH -- Armco Park Golf Course was made to close all day on Tuesday after an early morning fire destroyed the golf cart barn and the golf carts that were parked in it. The Warren County Park District spent the majority of the day actively working to resume operations at  the golf course.

“Our priority has been getting the course back open for our community as quickly and safely as possible,” said Matt Latham, Executive Director of the Warren County Park District.

According to the park district's press release, the fire was contained to the cart barn portion of the facility, a wood-framed structure located behind the pro shop. The cart barn and the golf carts stored inside are considered a total loss. The pro shop, located in the front steel-framed building, sustained little to no damage. No injuries were reported.

Crews assessed the facility and safely isolated electrical service to the damaged cart barn so that power can be restored to the pro shop..

“This is an unexpected setback, but our focus is on getting back up and running quickly,” said  Latham. “We are grateful that everyone is safe and that the damage was limited to the cart barn portion of the facility."

By early Tuesday afternoon, the park district announced that on Wednesday April 15, Armco Park Golf Course will reopen for limited operations. The course will be open for walking play and for golfers who bring their own carts.

Play has been resumed starting Wednesday April 15

“We’re pleased to be able to resume play right away, even in a limited capacity, while we continue working toward full operations," said Latham, adding, “We know how important this course is to our community. We appreciate everyone’s patience and support as we work through the recovery process.”

The Park District is actively working to procure replacement golf carts and establish temporary storage so that full golf operations, including cart use, can resume as soon as possible. Additional updates will be shared on www.WarrenCountyParks.com as more information arrives.
