SPRINGBORO, OH -- Some of us literally grew up with JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR in the theatre, in movies and in local “pirate productions” that were all over the place.
La Comedia has produced this musical before, however, this time you WILL want to go again or GO for the first time if you haven’t seen it LIVE. The real essence of the musical is captured in the peacefuL, gentle portrayal of Jesus by musical professional Josh Hamilton. In contrast is the rocker portrayal of Judas by Jonah Mendoza, who really is the pulse of this production. In contrast, Isabel Gray as Mary Magdalene brings a Nashville vibe to her portrayal.
Palm Sunday sceneNot enough can be said about the supporting cast:
This production has a strong ensemble with many singers in small parts who make the show memorable in all their scenes . La Comedia is fortunate to have these talented actors in their productions.
King Herod singsChris Beiser, the director has really made this show more of an “event” with the hardworking backstage teams, which include the production manager, Kris Byerly and the stage manager Aubie-Lee Dentino as well as all those other “unsung” heros who put this show together.
