Historical Haunts Returns to Waynesville This Fall

Some stories never really leave...

This fall, the Museum at the Friends Home will once again invite visitors to explore the history and legends of Waynesville through its Historical Haunts ghost walks.

The guided evening walks take visitors through the streets of the historic village, sharing stories of former residents, shopkeepers, and townspeople whose lives have become part of Waynesville’s history. Many of the stories have been passed down through generations, combining documented local history with folklore, ghostly encounters, and unexplained happenings.

Rather than simply telling stories from a distance, the Historical Haunts walks take place in the locations where the stories originated, giving participants an opportunity to experience Waynesville’s history after dark and learn more about the people and events that helped shape the village.

Fall tours will be held September 24, 25, and 26, followed by October 1, 2, 3, 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, 24, 29, 30, and 31. Each tour runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and lasts approximately 90 minutes.
