On Friday night after Winton Woods’ win against Lebanon, I had a chat with Winton Woods’ Star junior quarterback Van George about football, himself, life, and the future.
BH: How do you feel about the win tonight?
VG: Feel great, we're 10-0, we're Conference champs, we couldn't have done much better.
BH: How do you think the playoffs will go?
VG: Exactly how we want them to go. I think we dictate our future. You know coach Murph and these guys, they take care of us. We just gotta do what they tell us and we'll go far.
BH: So how long have you been playing football?
VG: Since my kindergarten year, this is my 12th year playing tackle football.
BH: And your favorite part of playing football?
VG: There's a lot, I mean just the weekly grind with the guys. I mean you don't find a better friendship and brotherhood than when you are on a football field in 100-degree weather. You know, blood, sweat, and tears.
BH: If you didn't play football what would you be doing?
VG: Probably playing something else, I don't know, I like to be active.
BH: What do you like to do in your free time?
VG: Just hang out with my guys, whether we are playing video games or getting food, whatever it is, I think it's part of the team chemistry that we have is the reason we are able to keep this win streak up.
BH: Do you have any plans for after high school?
VG: I wanna pursue football in college, still thinking about it. If I get that opportunity that'd be great, if not, so be it, and move on to something else
BH: Thank you very much.
VG: Appreciate it.
