Shortly before sunset, I took this picture. I was curious to find out why the sky looked pink or purple tonight.
I found out that a pink sky can sometimes happen when the sunlight shines on the water droplets. I am inclined to believe that explanation because the sky was sprinkling rain when I took the picture.
Another explanation was because there is a full moon tonight. This full moon, which is called the Harvest Moon, is expected to be orange. The Harvest Moon usually occurs in September, but it is happening in October this year. The Old Farmer's Almanac said the moon was supposed to rise in Franklin at 7:39 p.m., which is shortly after the picture was taken. There will be a second full moon this month on Oct. 31. It will be called a Blue Moon.
I find the Harvest Moon interesting, but I think the cause of the colors in tonight's sky was because of the sunlight shining into rain droplets. I am not a meteorologist, so I can't be sure. I think the sky was pretty.
Moderate rain, with a high of 59 and low of 46 degrees. Light rain shower in the morning, thundery outbreaks in nearby in the afternoon and evening, cloudy overnight.
