MASON, OH— In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, the coalition behind Breaking the Silence: Teens Fighting Suicide is highlighting the top eight  videos from student submissions. The campaign powered by The Joe Burrow Foundation, Fox19, Crossroads Church, and Interact for Health aimed to raise awareness of teen mental health challenges and available resources through the 988 text and chat line.

More than 60 high school students submitted 30-second video responses to the question, “What do you wish the adults in your life knew about mental health?” While Mason High School Elle Riva's PSA “You Are Not Alone” was not one of the top 3, she was in the top 8.

More than 4,000 votes were submitted to determine a winner, whose public service announcement (PSA) aired LIVE this past February’s Super Bowl on FOX.

Mental health has been a more prominent part of public conversation and consciousness. Now is the moment to turn this heightened awareness into positive action for lasting change. There are ways that all of us can get involved in improving mental health and well-being in our region, but the one thing we can all do is listen.

It’s a common theme throughout these videos: youth want to be heard and understood for who they are. Take a step today to listen to youth by watching and sharing these videos with your family, friends, and social media network.
