FRANKLIN, OH -- The City of Franklin is proud to announce that Denny Centers has been selected as the Grand Marshal of the 2026 Independence Day Parade, which will take place on Saturday, July 4, 2026, as the nation commemorates the 250th anniversary of the United States.
The announcement follows Centers’ recent recognition as the Northwest Warren County Chamber of Commerce’s Citizen of the Year, an honor celebrating a lifetime of service and leadership that has left a lasting impact on the Franklin community and the people who call it home.
Denny Centers with wife Joni and their sons Brent and Shane and their familiesSince his initial appointment to Franklin City Council in 2001, Centers has dedicated more than two decades to public service, serving in numerous leadership roles including Mayor, Vice Mayor, Finance Committee chair, and community advocate. Throughout his tenure, he has championed initiatives that improved the city’s appearance, strengthened public safety, honored veterans, and enhanced downtown Franklin.
Many of the projects that have shaped Franklin’s growth and revitalization bear Centers’ influence, including the State Route 123 beautification project, the expansion of downtown public art and murals, the Main Street Streetscape Project and support for the consolidation of fire-based EMS services. His commitment to thoughtful leadership, fiscal responsibility, and long-term community improvement has helped position Franklin for continued success.
This year’s parade theme, “A Community Celebration: United for 250” highlights a special milestone as the City of Franklin joins Franklin Township and the City of Carlisle to commemorate America 250. Together, our three communities are uniting to honor our shared history and celebrate the spirit of independence.
The 2026 Independence Day Parade will begin at 10:00 a.m., featuring local organizations, community groups, businesses, and patriotic displays. The parade route will step off from Park Avenue, cross the Lion’s Bridge, continue along Main Street, turn onto Sixth Street, and conclude at Community Park.

The City of Franklin invites residents and visitors alike to join in celebrating America’s 250th birthday. In the evening, the celebration continues with a festival at Community Park beginning at 5:00 PM, featuring food trucks, rides, inflatables and live entertainment from two bands. The night concludes with a spectacular fireworks display at 10:00 PM, lighting up the sky in a grand finale worthy of this historic 250th celebration.
