Varsity and JV softball both kick off the season with scrimmages next week. Varsity hosts Centerville at 5:00 on Thursday 3/17. JV travels to Centerville for a 5:00 start.

On Saturday 3/19 Varsity travels to Twin Valley South for an 11:00 scrimmage start time.

Both teams continue with scrimmages the following week before Varsity travels to Destin/Fort Walton Beach to start the regular season on 3/27.

Our season is officially underway, opening in a Fortnite match against defending State Champion Middletown. Captain David Walton and his duos partner Owen Hudson Bateson started strong with a 6-1 victory taking the first set for Franklin. The next pair, Christian Balhetchet and Caden Dill, fought valiantly but fell to the candy-cane wearing Middletown team. This tied the match at one set each.

Our last set was a 2-v-1 situation with Beckett Swoll on point. Middletown’s coordination and numbers advantage gave them the final set victory.

Next week’s match faces off against Global Impact STEM.

In Rocket League, Captain Christian Balhetchet led his squad against a strong Middletown team. Owen Hudson Bateson and Noah Woo had clutch saves against the overly aggressive Middies. We lost the first set 0-2.

Caden Dill subbed in and scored our first goal of the season, assisted by Captain Balhetchet. In the third set, Noah scored twice tying us at 2-2 with 2:22 to go. We went into extra time but after two extra minutes we lost 3-2. This gave Middletown their third game victory.

In our fourth game, Captain Balhetchet scored with 1:45 seconds left. We lost 5-1.

In our final set, Noah started strong with a goal, shortly followed by Captain Balhetchet. It was a hard loss for our Wildcats, but it was a great showing for our young team.

Our next match is against Forest Hills.

Alpha Flag Football League Combine

The combine is happening right before the season so that coaches and players have a chance to meet. We are also timing and grading the athletes in drills just like NFL players. This will help us make teams as even as possible during the season.
