Eight Warren County Students Complete 4-Year Course Held by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
LEBANON, OH -- Farrah Childress, Hyrum Leishman, Joseph Palmer — all from Lebanon, along with Logan Carlisle, Spencer Lee, Samuel Simons, Zachary Simons, Ammon Vaughn — all from Springboro, were among the 29 high school seniors that completed their four-year early morning scripture study course held by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
"Over this four-year course, the students were able to study the Old Testament, New Testament, Book of Mormon and Church History. The students were taught by 12 volunteer teachers this school year," noted Melissa McGladrie, Communication Specialist Dayton Ohio East Area The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
One of the speakers, Zach Gerritsen a senior that just graduated from Beavercreek, said, “Over the past four years of attending seminary, I have had several experiences and opportunities to grow closer to Christ and develop my relationship with Him.”
Liberty Briggs, also a senior from Beavercreek High School, shared how she is now “looking for God in my life always and He is a part of everything in my life. And seminary has strengthened that perspective so much for me.”
In his concluding remarks, Robert Hancock, President of the Dayton Ohio East Stake, told the graduates, “Through your dedicated participation in seminary, you have each shown that you can do hard things… you will be blessed for your perseverance and dedication… blessed by the gospel principles you have learned. (And) you have come to know the Savior better through your participation.”
Last Sunday evening, a graduation ceremony was held for the 29 graduates at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint on 3072 Shakertown Rd. in Beavercreek.
The other 2024 graduates included:
- Evelyn Barnes, Silas Bills, Liberty Briggs, Gwyneth Campbell, Lana Campbell, Madi Campbell, Gavin Crosby, Zach Gerritsen, Jenna Gomm, Luke Huntzinger, Anna Lefgren, Caleb Manning, Brightyn Mills, Breck Neal, Neal Thomson, Jacob Wahlquist — all from Beavercreek.
- Porter Brown, Kara Hartley -- both from Enon
- Lili Mann, Gabi Mann -- both from Riverside
- Preston Zeigler -- from Wilmington
