LEBANON, OH -- The eviction notice that was handed to the 300 plus harness racing horses that boarded at the Warren County Fair Grounds in October was rescinded at the Warren County Agricultural Society Fair Board meeting on Monday.
The original notice had given the renters the deadline date to move out as of Dec., 1, 2024. The reason given for the eviction on the notice was due to "the financial burden it cause to the WCAS organization."
After a two hour Warren County Commissions work session on Nov., 12 concerning the eviction notice, WCAS President Dana Letner was requested to ask her board to rescind the eviction until at least May to see if an agreement could be worked out. The WCAS board accepted the request and is pushing any evictions back to May 31, 2025.
During this extended time period, both parties, the horsemen and the WCAS, hope to come to an agreement on unpaid stall rent and a contract for future rentals.
Currently, the WCAS owes the city of Lebanon $37,000 for utilities and the manure removal facility $38,000 along with other smaller outstanding invoices. The county has offered to come up with some sort of supplement to help the WCAS get caught up.
