The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR) will collaborate with nonprofit U.S. Hunger to host the first-ever Kroger Community Day of Service Million Meal Pack in Cincinnati, Ohio, as part of the company’s Zero Hunger | Zero Waste impact plan. This event will bring Kroger associates and our community together to fight hunger and pack one million nutritious meals for families in need. One in seven residents in the tri-state area experience food insecurity, including more than 80,000 children.

The community service event, supported by The Kroger Co. Foundation, will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the Fowling Warehouse (2940 Highland Ave, Suite 230 Cincinnati, Ohio 45212). Kroger associates and members of the community can register to volunteer for two-hour shifts to help pack one million meals at VolunteerKroger.org.

“As America’s grocer, we are committed to feeding more people who are struggling with hunger, especially children who need nutritious food to thrive,” said Keith Dailey, group vice president of corporate affairs for Kroger. “This Kroger Community Day Million Meal Pack with U.S Hunger is a family-friendly day of service inspired by our Zero Hunger | Zero Waste mission to end hunger and waste in our communities. Working together, our community will provide even more nourishing meals for local families to improve food security and health in and around Greater Cincinnati.”

Since launching the Zero Hunger | Zero Waste impact plan in 2017, Kroger has directed more than 3.4 billion meals to nourish communities and provided $1.5 billion to support hunger relief, including nearly 700 million pounds of surplus fresh food donations from stores.

Meals packed at the event will be donated to local Feeding America food banks and agencies for families in need.

It’s through community events such as the million-meal pack that we are fulfilling our purpose to Feed the Human Spirit,” said Ann Reed, president of the Cincinnati/Dayton division. “We are excited to team up with U.S. Hunger and local food banks and pantries to continue making an impact in the many communities that we call home.”

Founded in 2010, U.S. Hunger addresses hunger by uncovering root causes of food insecurity through technology and creating access to nutritious meals for low-income families and individuals. U.S. Hunger has distributed more than 180 million meals across the globe.

"Food has the power to bring people together, and that’s exactly what this event is all about,” said Rick Whitted, CEO of U.S. Hunger. “Through our collaboration with Kroger, we’re not just packing meals—we’re sharing hope and support with families who need it most. We’re grateful to everyone joining us in this effort, proving that when we come together, we can make a real difference. Every meal packed is a reminder that no one is alone in their struggle, and together, we can build a stronger, more connected community.”
