LEBANON, OH -- To fulfill requirement #7 of the Boy Scout's Communications Merit Badge, a scout must write a local newspaper about a subject of his/her choice. Boy Scout Sam King of Lebanon, Ohio's Troop 57 chose to write to the www.WarrenCountyPost.com on the subject of Scouting in the Community. Here is King's letter along with some pictures of he and his fellow scouts participating in community service projects.
Troop 57's morals are based in being helpful, friendly, courteous, and kind. Troop 57 participates in many service projects. Every year Troop 57 goes to The Lebanon Cemetery to replace every single Veteran's American Flag with a brand new American Flag. The old flags are later taken by the troop and retired in a ceremony.
Troop 57 also makes an effort to clean out litter in the Downtown Lebanon area and on the grounds of American Legion Post 186. These scouts also participate in the mulching of trees at the Miller Ecological Park. You can find the Troop at car washes that happen throughout the summer at American Legion Post 186 that only cost as much money as you're willing to pay.
The Troop can also be found working a stand at the Lebanon Blues Festival. Troop 57 plans to continue to give back to the community for as long as they can.
