LEBANON, OH -- The Otterbein SeniorLife Board announced a plan to acquire Ohio Living’s Lake Vista Community located in Cortland, Ohio. The contractual agreements have been approved by the respective boards of directors and have entered a period of two months for various required approvals. Should all proceed as planned, the acquisition is expected to be finalized before year-end. Both are non-profit senior care organizations that provide a wide array of senior services including independent and assisted living, memory-support, skilled nursing, and rehabilitative care.
In making the announcement, Jill Wilson, President and CEO of Otterbein SeniorLife said, “I’m excited to share that Otterbein SeniorLife is planning to acquire Ohio Living at Lake Vista, a senior living community that shares our values and mission. This is a meaningful step forward in our journey to extend our mission to enrich individual life journeys for all.”
“We feel privileged to continue the faith-based mission of Ohio Living at Lake Vista. With 113 years of experience, we are honored to invest in Lake Vista’s future and welcome its residents, staff, and families into the Otterbein family,” Wilson added.
CEO of Ohio Living Laurence C. Gumina said, “the boards of directors and leadership teams of Ohio Living and Otterbein SeniorLife have worked collaboratively to ensure this long-standing community we love continues to thrive, both now and far into the future."
Gumina added,“following an exploratory process, it was clear Otterbein offered the best opportunity to ensure the long-term viability of our Ohio Living Lake Vista community. Otterbein SeniorLife is a premier senior living provider, and their commitment to mission and excellence aligns flawlessly with our community’s culture and philosophy."
In keeping with the standard already in place with all Otterbein communities, the name Ohio Living Lake Vista will change to the Otterbein Cortland SeniorLife Community, in recognition of the fine city where the community is located. While the community will continue to retain the current staff and leadership team, it will be supported by Otterbein SeniorLife home office team to enhance leverage for sales, marketing, communications, financial analyses, strategic planning, procurement and so on.
