Experience the enchantment of cinema at the Loveland Shorts Film Festival—a vibrant celebration of independent filmmaking. Here one will discover a curated collection of short films, all 20 minutes or less, showcasing both local and global talent, as in the case of...Luís Filipe Borges.

Borges' film "First Date," shot on the picturesque Portuguese island of Pico, Azores, has its next American screening in the city of Loveland, as the official selection and opening film of the "Loveland Shorts Film Festival."

"A short film that captivates the audience with genuine chemistry between the characters and a moving narrative that enhances the romantic atmosphere," That's how the Loveland Shorts Film Festival jury nominated "First Date." 

The film was nominated for not just one but  two awards: as "Sweetheart of the Fest," and also nominated the director himself, Luís Filipe Borges, for "Best First Time Filmmaker."

"First Date" opens the festival on August 1st at the Loveland Stage Company. The Loveland Shorts Film Festival is a celebration of filmmaking. Its mission is to provide a platform for independent filmmakers to showcase their work, connect with other artists, and engage with the local community. The organization believes in the power of cinema to transform, inspire, and entertain, and is dedicated to promoting the diversity of voices and perspectives in film.

The film "First Date" has already been screened in 12 countries. It premiered in the US at the New Bedford Film Festival, then went on to the LA Sun Film Fest, Massachusetts International Film Festival, Mondial Film Festival Los Angeles, New York PSFF, and now the Loveland Shorts Film Festival.
