WARREN COUNTY, OH
-- At approximately 7:30 PM, officers were dispatched to the Kroger located at 148 E Towne Center in reference to a reported shooting, where there were two victims with non-life-threatening injuries.

Jayson Hall, 40, of Hamilton Township was arrested. He has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Assault (Felony 4) - two counts
  • Negligent Assault (Misdemeanor 3rd Degree) - two counts
  • Inducing Panic (Felony 4)
  • Improperly Discharging a Firearm (Felony 2)

According to Karin Johnson - reporter for WLWT-News 5, Hamilton Township Police Chief Scott Hughes noted that the incidents appears to be an accident as "someone" was firing a gun at home and the bullets traveled into the front of the Kroger store.

In the State of Ohio, it is not illegal to discharge firearms on private property within Ohio's townships. Since townships do not have the power to create their own laws and ordinances like cities and villages do, the laws available to township governments on private property are provided by the Ohio Revised Code.

As of this writing, Hall is incarcerated at the Warren County Jail.

"Thank you to all the assisting agencies that responded to help ensure everyone's safety. Their quick response and support exemplify the teamwork among law enforcement agencies in our region. We also appreciate the patience and cooperation shown by members of the community while officers investigated the incident," wrote Hughes on Facebook page.
