A Group of Kids Ages 7 to 12 Will Be Launching Their Businesses This Coming Sunday (Dec. 15)

SPRINGBORO, OH -- Next Sunday a group of kids ages 7 to 12 will be setting up shop at the Gabriel House in Springboro to launch their businesses that they've been working on for the last 12 weeks, as well as sell their products.

Kids Growing in Business - Homeschool Group was started this past fall by April Kirby, who during the summer helped her daughter Charlie start a business — Charlie's Dog Treat Stand.

"We do school at home and wanted her to learn business skills along with learning how to communicate with others," April explained, adding that she had created a small business planning system a few years ago and decided to change it to a kid business curriculum.

After testing the curriculum over the summer with Charlie and seeing it was successful, a homeschool group was created that focused on kids building and running businesses - age group is 7 to 12.

"That's how Kids Growing in Business got started," April said.

The program teaches kids how to build a business from the ground up.

"They spend 12 weeks creating a very real business. They start by planning out their business name and products (foundation), then they work on marketing. branding and designing their products (walls), they focus on regulations and rules for running their businesses (roof) and then they launch their businesses in our Kids Farm Market (opening their doors)," April explained.

The Kids Christmas Market is Dec. 15, 2024 at Gabriel House in Springboro 3:00PM to 5:30PM

"Teaching kids that they can make money no matter where they are as long as they make a quality and/or have a quality service..." is one of the reasons the program has been created, April noted. The program has also been created to help give kids the knowledge of entrepreneurship and how money works.

"This is knowledge that will last them a lifetime while growing friendships along the way as well," April added.
