Rockin’ The 80’s With THE WEDDING SINGER

SPRINGBORO, OH -- Thinking all the fun of the movie with Adam Sandler, this Broadway version  of The Wedding Singer certainly didn’t disappoint! The plot, which centers around finding true love, is perfectly cast with Brynoch Rammell as Robbie Hart, who plays the character with enthusiasm, humor and a great singing voice opposite the sweet Allison Gabert, who is the perfect ingenue Julia. This part really gives her a showcase to show her wonderful musical theatre abilities and acting chops.

The supporting cast is spot on. Robbie’s band mates, Sammy played by the always reliable Dylan Jackson with a period mullet hair piece and George with a Boy George” look” played by Jonathan Pendergrass were perfect in their roles. Pendergrass, with his many supporting roles at La Comedia over the recent seasons, certainly had a part this time that he could really get into and make a splash with. He definitely is an “audience fav.” Elliot Hankins comes through in style as Glen Guglia, the rejected suitor.

The female supporting cast is also exceptional. Meaghan Maher, with her energetic singing and acting, plays Holly, Julia's best friend. And, Hannah Markley, as the ex-girl friend Linda, creates a spotlight moment.

Of special note in this production is seasoned actress Leanne Greenberg as Robbie’s mother Rosie. Leanne is a veteran of local Cincinnati productions. It is a genuine joy to see a real senior actor playing a mature adult role with verve and class!

Spotlighting local talent was the appearance of the acting Springboro Family, the Iversons. Ed Iverson, his wife Becky and daughter Haley are featured in the cast. And, as always, they give fine performances .

Director Chris Beiser and Music Director Meghan Slowik have the cast and ensemble singing and dancing with energy and 80’s flair. As in previous shows, not enough good things can be said about the ensemble who is exceptional! Emma Gaskill, the costume designer, has the costumes perfect to reflect the 80s fashions in every scene!

Put on YOUR 80’s clothes and attitude and enjoy this fun evening through June 21.
