Book Review: Chasing Perfection by Rachel Brooks

Rachel Brooks did a great job of telling her story in this book.   It's not easy to write about the  most vulnerable  moments of your lives.  I know this for a fact from writing my own non-fiction book.  It was difficult for me to write about certain things and talk openly about things I had kept a secret from most people.  There were times during writing when I wondered what people would think of how I handled certain situations in my life.  I wondered if my readers would judge me.  I know that it requires a level of courage to even begin writing such a book.  For that, I commend Rachel.  I am confident that the bravery she has shown by telling her story has helped many people.

Rachel is a fantastic writer. People who write memoirs and autobiographies aren't necessarily professional writers.  They write the books they do because they have a story to tell and they know that people need to hear it.  Rachel is so descriptive in her writing that I didn't just feel like I was reading her story.  I felt like I was experiencing it along with her.  She writing style allowed me to be in the moment.  That wasn't always comfortable, but life isn't always comfortable.  It also allowed me to be there and celebrate the happy moments like meeting her husband.

I respect anyone who works to better themselves and overcome obstacles in their life.  I found this book to be inspiring.   I also liked the quotes she included and the Points To Ponder at the end of the chapter.
