COVID-19 has been hard on small businesses.  One local business that has been particularly hard by the COVID 19 restrictions is Groves Franklin Tavern, which is located at 331 South Main Street in Franklin.  Local musician Heath Bowling set up a benefit for this Sunday.  The graphic above shows the performance schedule for the event.  Bowling said that there will also be three 50/50 drawings throughout the day, adding prizes have been donated by businesses including Frickers, Swire Inn, Budweiser, The Barrel, Mr Boro’s, Heather’s and Heroes Pizza House.

Bowling said he has always felt at home at Groves Franklin Tavern.  "When you walk in it has a Cheers feel and after everyone meets you, they don’t forget you," he said.  Bowling said he has met great people there who have become great friends, but they are more like family. I’m putting this benefit on to help my friend Michele get back on her feet and help my family keep their favorite watering hole," he said.

Besides Bowling, there were eight artists who volunteered to perform on Sunday to help Groves Franklin Tavern.  "I’m glad I have a Justice League of friends who I can call on when I need them to help us and as usual they all answered the call,"  Bowling said.

Shane DeMoss, of the duo Until Rust, said Groves Franklin Tavern is a familiar place with familiar faces.  In all this political, and viral turmoil its easy to sit idly by and watch the mom and pop business go under. In my mind that is not a community mindset. We should all be reaching out to each other helping. In these troubled times and any other time," he said.

Bryan Scott said Groves Franklin Tavern is his hometown tavern, but they have gone out of their way to help him in the past.  "When my family was going through rough times due to a house fire, Groves did a lot for us, treated us like family and has ever since.  So this is a chance to give back to a place that has given to so many others," he said.

Amy Newhart, of JAYME, is another person who comes from Franklin.  "The owners are good hearted people and that means so much to me. They have helped me when they didn’t even realize. I’m just hoping we can help them too," she said.

Tiffany Maye, of Short of Stable, said this benefit is a way to help a neighbor and a friend. With so much hate and division in the world today, it’s wonderful to see people come together just to help out a friend. What better way to do that than to enjoy a day of music among friends and fellow musicians," she said.

Wesley Green is another artist who will be performing.  He said he felt the need to help Groves Franklin Tavern despite having only been there a handful of time.  "...I can see that it means a lot to a lot of people. And everyone there is always so nice and welcoming," he said.
