WARREN COUNTY, OH -- The "For" voters outnumbered the "Against" voters in Massie Township, Salem Township and Wayne Township when it came to Fire Levies on yesterday's May 5th Primary Ballot. But for Franklin Township, the "Against" outnumbered the "For' for both its Fire Levy and its Street Levy.
In Massie Township a renewal of 1 mil for 5 years passed with 175 voters saying FOR and 122 voting AGAINST. The tax commences in 2026, first due in calendar year 2027.
In Salem Township residents were asked to approve an additional 3.9 mills for 5 years with 659 voting FOR while 403 voted AGAINST. The tax commences in 2026, first due in calendar year 2027.
In Wayne Township a renewal of 2.45 mills for 5 years passed with 893 voters FOR the renewal and 610 voted AGAINST the renewal. The tax commences in 2026, first due in calendar year 2027.
Franklin Township voters, in the unincorporated portion of the township only, were being asked for an additional 1 mil for a continuing period of time. While 905 were FOR the levy, 1,569 voted AGAINST the levy.
The unincorporated Franklin Township residents were also being asked for an additional 1 mil Street Levy that would be in place for a continuing period of time. This levy also failed with 1,660 voting AGAINST it and 824 voting FOR it.
