HARVEYSBURG, OH -- Sitting just southeast of Caesar Creek Lake and North of State Rt 73 in Massie Township is the quaint and quiet village of Harveysburg, Ohio. With a population of a little less than 600 residents, this small village is getting ready to hold a big celebration. This Saturday, June 27th, Harveysburg and Massie Township are coming together to commemorate America's 250th Anniversary.
"It's a celebration of heritage, patriotism and community pride," said Kevin Brewer Co-chair of the America 250 Celebration Organizing Committee.
"We decided to do our celebration the weekend before the July 4th weekend so we were not competing with other towns," added Lucy McCarren, the other Co-chair of the America 250 Celebration Organizing Committee.
Lucy McCarren and Kevin Brewer Event Co-Chairs Both Brewer and McCarren celebrated America's 200th anniversay in Harveysburg 50 years ago. The difference, they explained, was Brewer was just a young teenage boy and McCarren would be 50 by July 4th. And, she was very active in organizing and planning the 1976 Harveysburg celebration. Today, at 99 years old and soon to be 100 years old, she is active planning the 250th celebration.
"She and my mom, Kathleen Brewer who is also turning 100 in September, are the parade's grand marshalls," Brewer added.
Along with the parade that will start at 1 PM, other festivities will begin at 9:00 AM such as the car show and will end with a Rozzi Fireworks display at dusk. Saturday's schedule is ....
On Sunday June 28 at 12:30 PM a Community Church Service is being held at the Village Gymnasium with guest speaker Matt Baker, Former Clinton Massie Local School Superintendent and the current Superintendent of Dayton Christian Schools.

We're looking forward to welcoming everyone to the Harveysburg/Massie Township America's 250 Celebration and want to make getting around as easy and stress-free as possible.
All visitor parking will be located at Renaissance Park, where convenient shuttle service will be available throughout the day. The shuttle will make stops along the celebration route, helping guests easily access the parade, car show, vendors, entertainment, and other activities.
A $5 donation per rider is requested for the shuttle service, with proceeds benefiting the Massie Township Fire Department and Harveysburg Police Department.
Handicap parking will be available across from the Marathon on Maple Street.
Wheelchair-accessible parking will be available at Found By Faith.We encourage guests to arrive early, relax, and let the shuttle do the driving while you enjoy the festivities. The Renaissance Park parking lot will be open for fireworks viewing. Another great view is Hat Lukens Park parking lot near Harveysburg Road.
Will also have BBQ ready, drinks pouring and live music from Summer Highway Band starting at 8 p.m. at the 1572 & 3 Fools Pub where an incredible view of the Harveysburg/Massie Township Rozzi fireworks show can be seen at dusk.
