WARREN COUNTY, OH -- Bon Secours Mercy Health (BSMH) is proud to be named one of 53 employers honored with the Business Group on Health’s Best Employers Award: Excellence in Health & Well-being. This national recognition celebrates organizations that go above and beyond to create innovative, comprehensive programs that support the whole person.

"Bon Secours Mercy Health stands as a leading employer in the region, showcasing the importance of prioritizing workforce well-being," stated Brian Gwyn, president of Mercy Health—Cincinnati. "This acknowledgment from the Business Group on Health validates the daily efforts of our Cincinnati teams in nurturing a culture filled with care, compassion, and support, not only for our patients but for one another. We take great pride in having these contributions recognized nationally."

Mercy Health—Cincinnati operates six hospitals, multiple specialty clinics, urgent care centers, and free-standing emergency departments, as well as primary care provider locations across the greater Cincinnati area.

“At Bon Secours Mercy Health, we believe that when our associates flourish — personally, professionally, and spiritually — our entire ministry is stronger,” said Nicole Martel, MSPH, CHES, Chief Rewards and Well-being Officer. “We’re honored to be recognized. This award is a testament to our commitment to creating programs and partnerships that champion the whole person.”

Now in its 20th year, the award was announced at the Business Group on Health’s 2025 Annual Conference in Nashville. BSMH was specifically recognized for its comprehensive and holistic approach to associate well-being, including mental health support, flexibility, family care, financial wellness, and career development.

Martel added, “Our rewards and well-being programs are designed to meet associates where they are — wrapping around the realities of home and work. From mental health support and family care to flexible scheduling and career development, we’re here to empower every associate to bring their best, share their heart, and be fulfilled. Because when we care for our people, they can fully care for others — and that’s how we do good together.”

“Each of the employers recognized by the Business Group goes above and beyond to offer their workforces extensive and forward-thinking benefits and programs,” said Ellen Kelsay, Business Group on Health president and CEO. “In doing so, their pioneering strategies have addressed key health and well-being challenges in the workplace. We extend our congratulations to all the winners.”

The award criteria assess applicants on their approaches to leadership, culture, and well-being strategy; holistic well-being, including mental health, financial well-being, social connectedness, job satisfaction, flexibility, and time away; engagement and the employee experience; health inclusion and social determinants; and metrics and evaluation.

“The 2025 awardees provide a valuable blueprint for other employers wishing to expand their health and well-being offerings,” said Pamela Rich, Business Group vice president. “We salute all the honorees for their achievements.”

The winners represent a broad and diverse group of industries, geographies, and strategic approaches to employee health and well-being. A complete list of winners is available here.
