MAE PLOY’S THAI RESTAURANT: ITS TIME FOR THAI

LEBANON, OH -- Although this restaurant has been open a few years, our recent visit was the first time we were there for lunch. There is often the threat of heavy and hot spices in Thai food and not being a “Thai spice” fan , I thought it wouldn’t be a good place for me.

I went in with one attitude and came out with another!

I was delightfully surprised with the wonderful lunch I had, and the party who went along were also pleased with their entrees. All different levels of spices are available and folks, like me, who want “milder” spices can find a happy marriage with the delicious Thai recipes.

Starting the menu is the traditional egg rolls (2 egg rolls for $7.95). This was a good way to start lunch. My companion tried Thai Tea, which is a tasty drink that is creamy and has cocoanut milk and is very sweet. It is possibly designed to go with the more spicey foods, although you can drink it with anything. A variety of traditional teas are available.

Many entrees are divided into LUNCH and DINNER portions. There is a great variety of LUNCH entrees in the Street Noodles and Stir Fry categories. I tried the Pad Thai noodles with chicken and spice level of 1, which is Mild. ($12.95)

My companion had a Ginger Stir Fry with chicken and rice ($12.95) level 3 (out of 5) a spicier choice which looked delicious. You can definitely control how much spice you get in your entrée. Also on the menu are Thai specialties , curry dishes, sushi , soups and salads. A full bar is also available.

We chatted with our friendly server, and after lunch, we got to meet the amazing and beautiful Mae Ploy who is the chef.

Mae is an American citizen and married with a family in addition to her dream of her authentic Thai restaurant, which opened in an old bank building in downtown Lebanon in 2019. Most people don’t know that Thailand is known as “The Land of Smiles.”

Definitely this positive attitude and the most delicious food is found in Mae Ploy’s Thai Restaurant. We will be back often, and are grateful to our good friends who referred this restaurant.

The Restaurant is located at 11 S Broadway. Lebanon, Oh 45036 and is closed on Mondays.
