Congressman Landsman Released Statement After Congress Failed To Pass Legislation To Avoid Government Shutdown
Congressman Greg Landsman Statement
WARREN COUNTY, OH -- The government shuts down tomorrow at midnight. This hurts everyone and will cost our economy billions.
Republicans decided to appease Trump by raising the debt ceiling so he can run up the deficit with trillions in wasteful spending on tax giveaways to Musk and the super-wealthy. Spending billions on billionaires.
We had a bipartisan bill with reforms that would have saved seniors millions on prescription drug costs, protect consumers from hidden fees and harmful AI deep fakes. It would have cut gas prices, supported our corn farmers, and included important programs for pediatric cancer.
Bring the original bill up for a vote. Remove the language about member pay raises. They’ll get more votes if they remove it. Send it to the Senate. Keep the government open. Fund disaster relief, our farmers, and save our seniors millions on prescription drugs.
I voted no on this bill because it clearly was made to appease billionaires and the middle men that raise our prescription drug costs.
We had a bill to help small businesses, the middle class, and our families. This continuing resolution is no longer that.
