Landsman Asks for Information from Organizations Impacted by Federal Funding Freeze
WARREN COUNTY, OH -- Late Monday, the Office of Management and Budget – responsible for overseeing all federal agencies and administering the federal budget – directed all federal agencies to temporarily pause activities related to obligation or disbursement of Federal financial assistance by 5:00 p.m. on January 28th. This pause affects key community services, including healthcare, local governments, public safety, and nonprofits.
“This is unprecedented, dangerous, and it immediately caused panic and pain," said Landsman adding, “We’ve heard from several local organizations impacted, and they rely on federal funding — including local housing projects, addiction treatment programs, healthcare services for low-income residents, and more is being abruptly halted.
While the directive says this is temporary, there is no indication within the memo as to how long the pause will be.
“We are working with House committees and leadership, federal agencies, and local community organizations to fully understand how this is being carried out and who is expected to be impacted," he said, adding, “We are committed to getting people answers and relief.”
