LEBANON, OH -- When people think OHIO DINING, the BOB EVANS RESTAURANT comes to mind. Like most people, I can truly say I take “Bob’s” for granted and often forget to stop in for breakfast or any other meal.
This 70 year old Ohio tradition, which was founded in Rio Grande Ohio, out in the country at a small diner, is still the leading original Ohio chain. Today, a Bob Evans Restaurant can be found in every Ohio city and several other states. And, with the recent demise of my local Warren County Frisch’s Restaurant, it has come to mind that we need to patronize our LOCAL OHIO eateries and keep them going !
This past week, a friend and I dropped in for lunch at Bob Evans in Lebanon. There were a few pleasant surprises. Not only was there a nice menu from which to select, but the prices are wallet friendly.
Although we were there for lunch, the breakfast menu is still the “star,” and so far, no “surcharges” for eggs on the egg entrees. The prices start at $5.99 and go up from there. And, breakfast is served all day and is certainly not something you feel you can’t afford.
As we were there for lunch, there is a great lunch special, which can’t be topped for $8.99. PICK 2 from the choice of a ½ sandwich, ½ salad or cup of soup...plus bread or biscuits on the side. I had the ½ Wildfire Chicken Salad, the Sausage Chili and Biscuits. I was happy to see the “Famous” chili, as for a long time it was off the menu, and it is a fav of mine.
Plated small portion “entrees” on the Dinner Bell menu were also $8.99 and might have been another possible choice. The great thing about the Dinner Bell entrees is that they are available at both lunch and dinner.
From time to time Bob Evans offers “dinner for 2” options but currently that is only available for carry out. Carryout or delivery options are available for anything on the menu, and now, there are various "family meals" from the regular entrees, which you can take away from the restaurants.
My lunch of the ½ salad and Cup of Chili , Biscuits and Coffee totaled up at $13.11 before tip. So you can bet I will be back for lunch soon !
