CINCINNATI, OH -- Making a 25 mile field trip to the Cincinnati Museum Center this past week, I went to specifically see the JULIA CHILD RECIPE FOR LIFE exhibit at the Cincinnati Museum Center ( 1301 Western Ave. 45203).
After writing 5 books about food and history ( Cincinnati and Soup Book Series) it seemed like a worthwhile experience. Not only were her saucepans there , there were videos, a selfie station and exhibits about Julia’s other talents like making a Shark Repellant in WW2 ! Who knew ?
A replica of her kitchen and a monitor set up to make the visitor look like they were on the black and white programs of the 1960’s she was famous for. A French café was a fun experience with images of plated foods for each course. Definitely worth your time if you are interested in cooking or French cooking or just finding out about Julia Child !
This exhibit is open until May 18. The ticket prices for the exhibit, The Museum of Natural History and Science and The Children’s Museum :
NOT INCLUDED: Cincinnati Historical Museum or the Omnimax Theatre. Those are separate admissions.
NOTE: Check admission prices online as they change with each exhibit. Unless you are a member this is what you have to plan for. A BARBIE exhibit is coming soon and the premium tickets are $48.00 per adult !
Parking is $6.00 – and here’s a tip- get the parking ticket when you enter the lot and take it inside to pay. To exit there is a QR code but people were having problems with it and there was a backup in the lot.
The Museum Center people tell you on their website to “PAY INSIDE” and there are several ways to DO this. The Ticket agents can help you with this.
The Museum Hours:
There is a small café in the Museum, and there are food machines as well near the impressive foyer. You may bring food to the museum and that is detailed on the website : www.cincymuseum.org
