MASON, OH -- Getting a look at Day 2 of the Mason location'S Dorothy Lane Market, it was still chaos in the parking lot. A normal sized lot, which should be good once the store is open on a daily basis, opening weekend parking was added across the street in the Sibcy Cline lot and a shuttle was being run. (Not likely available when you will be reading this story.)
The Mason store is the second Dorothy Lane Market in Warren County — the first being in Springboro, and many local residents are very familiar with this store. The new store is definitely a “food palace” with its modern décor and lots of opportunities to eat while you are there! Pizza, delicatessen, sandwich shop, sushi can be purchased and eaten in the open seating on the second floor. There is no reason to go away hungry.
The store has beautiful and tempting aisles in all departments. Fresh produce is invitingly displayed, in store bakery, fresh seafood and the largest meat market in this part of the state.
I took a short grocery list to the store opening to see how I would fare. The bread counter is first when you enter the store. I was looking for croissants as I have bought wonderful ones at DLM stores in the past. Sadly, they were sold out. I did, however, get some healthy bread to take home so I was happy with this.
In the produce department, I found my red lettuce, and it looked very fresh. Watermelon slices looked inviting and a large quarter melon ended up in my cart! Remembering their famous (and delicious) chicken salad would be something I would like to take home I looked for this. Could not find it “pre portioned” and the line for the “deli” was too long to wait. Next trip.
Next I checked out the seafood counter, but with a busy week ahead, I passed purchasing this trip. The meat market area is well staffed and is huge. The dairy cases are well stocked, and we bought our milk there. Cookies were in a small area, and I was looking for real Scottish shortbread, which isn’t carried.
The wine shop definitely doesn’t disappoint, and there is a place to get a glass of wine to sustain you while you shop! Grocery shopping CAN be fun!
A natural products section is available in this store as in Springboro where we have shopped often. There is a large checkout area and there was virtually no wait to get through and meet the cheerful checkout staff.
Loved the entire experience at DLM Mason and look forward to shopping again soon.
