Mason Community Players: You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown Brings Joy to May

MASON, OH --Always great to be able to see a popular play close to home, performed well and at a reasonable cost, which Mason Community Players makes happen in its production of You're A Good Man Charlie Brown.

This time we saw a fun afternoon performance with a cast of talented local actors. Will Sapp as Charlie Brown conveyed the humor and dismay of the character in contrast to Kaitlyn DeWitt,  who played the extreme (and loud!) Lucy with all the dynamics the part needed to steal many scenes. The hardest part to act in this play is always Charlie Brown's dog Snoopy. Jack Verner accomplished this with humor and enthusiasm, especially in his "show stopping production number" Suppertime

Filling out the cast were the talents of Ben Essex as Linus and James Roberts as Schroeder, who captured their comic strip essence. Hannah Richardson as Patty and Rylee Combs as Woodstock filled out the cast with humor.

You're A Good Man Charlie Brown, which runs through May 7- 9, is one you won’t want to miss. The Mason Community Playhouse (5529 Mason Road, Mason, OH 45040) has tickets priced at $20.00 for general admission and for seniors and students at $18.00.

This show is a fun one for anyone who grew up with the Peanuts cartoons in the newspaper. The comic strip, created by Charles Schulz in 1950, ran through 2000. In the 1960s, television specials were created, and in 1967 this play debuted on Broadway! Even today, amusement parks, like Kings Island, have had PEANUTS character themed areas. This is a show certain to please anyone who loves these characters. Fun for adults and children.

Coming up this summer at the Mason Community Playhouse is their tribute to the 250th Celebration, the musical 1776. This show is based on the founding of our country, with the leading actors singing and dancing through the creation of the Declaration of Independence. This was a major Broadway play and film made during the Bicentennial years.

TIP : Definitely, if you haven’t seen 1776 or want to see it again, you will want to reserve tickets now. 1776 will be on stage July 10-18. And as in past years, the “summer musical” at MCP has many sold out performances.
