MIDDLETOWN, OH -- Butler County Warbirds, Inc announced its partnership with America 250-Ohio, the official state commission responsible for spearheading Ohio's celebrations around America’s semiquincentennial in 2026.

Butler County Warbirds Military History Museum will be a stop on The Ohio Air and Space Trail, the first of six thematic experiential trails planned over the next two years as part of America 250-Ohio’s official “Trails & Tales” program. The Ohio Air and Space Trail features more than 30 sites that celebrate the Ohio people and places that have become synonymous with air and space travel over the past century.

Locations align with themes including Innovation, Birthplace of Aviation, Service to Country, Space Exploration, Training, Preservation & Flying Experiences, and First & Feats.

Butler County Warbirds' mission is to educate and entertain individuals, of all ages, on the historical importance of aviation while America was at war. We celebrate our heroes through the preservation of their aircraft and memorabilia as we share their stories.

We have over 2500 artifacts dating from the civil war through the military's response to the Covid 19 pandemic. Get up close and personal with the 3 flying aircraft in our collection. Flight and immersion experiences are available for purchase.

“From the Wright brothers soaring the skies over Dayton to Wapakoneta’s Neil Armstrong walking the surface of the moon, it is impossible to tell the story of air and space travel without Ohio,” said Mackensie Wittmer, Executive Director of the National Aviation Heritage Area and America 250-Ohio Commission Member. “The Ohio Air and Space Trail is a fun and informative way to experience the birthplaces, landmarks, museums and other locations where Ohioans made historic accomplishments and contributions to aviation and space exploration that changed the world.”

About America 250-Ohio

In 2026, the United States will celebrate its semiquincentennial, which is the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Each state has been encouraged to create a celebration and commemoration of this anniversary to reflect the unique character and contributions of each state to the nation over the past 250 years. Ohio is fully embracing this opportunity. The Ohio Commission for the Semiquincentennial (aka America 250-Ohio Commission or AM250-OH) was created by the Ohio legislature and launched on March 1, 2022. The charge of the AM250-OH Commission is to “…to plan, encourage, develop, and coordinate the commemoration of the two hundred fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the United States and the impact of Ohioans on the nation’s past, present, and future.” — Ohio Revised Code (149.309).
