Public Hearing Set Prior to Springboro Council's Regularly Scheduled Meeting

SPRINGBORO, OH -- A public hearing will be held before the city council meeting at 7PM on Thursday April 17 in the Council Chambers in the Springboro Municipal Building. The hearing is regarding an ordinance containing amendments to the Planning & Zoning Code.

PART XII OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF SPRINGBORO, SPECIFICALLY CHAPTER 1273, EXTERIOR LIGHTING, AND CHAPTER 1281, SIGNS. 

The amendments would allow: 

  • The regulation of light emitted from buildings under Chapter 1273 and establish a maximum intensity standard for that light.
  • Revise standards for canopy lighting in Chapter 1273
  • Revise provisions in Chapter 1281 and the Code's interpretation and enforcement
  • The amendments establish a nuisance provision for light emitted from buildings in the codified ordinance.

The public hearing will be limited to 30 minutes; 15 minutes reserved for the proponents and 15 minutes reserved for the opponents. A copy of the text of the proposed amendment is available for review at the reception desk at the Springboro Municipal Building located at 320 West Central Avenue, between the hours of 8 am ad 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, legal holidays excluded.
