KASHISH RESTAURANT BRINGS A REAL TASTE OF INDIAN TO TOWN

LEBANON, OH -- Most folks in Lebanon really developed a “taste for Indian food” a few years back when the BOMBAY RESTAURANT on Silver Street opened, but then, closed after a devastating fire. Since that time, there has been NO INDIAN food available until April of 2025 when KASHISH opened in the IGA strip center (118 W. Main Suite D Lebanon, Ohio 45036).

A small (but charming) little restaurant, we were met by the waiter (and bar tender) “Harry” for a recent lunch there.  (KASHISH has a full bar available.)

KASHISH has a full bar available.

Before arriving, we had explored the menu online, and we were happily surprised to see more items on the “dining in menu” and a larger lunch selection. There is a Tandoori and a Biryanni menu, in addition to the many Northern Indian foods we have come to know and love.

We tried the Dahi Aloo Paapri appetizer and it is large enough for a party of 3-4. Served along with a chutney selection we would certainly want to order it again.

For our main entree, we ordered the lunch portions of Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Curry. We also ordered Saag Paneer (unfortunately, it didn’t come in a side order) as well as two pieces of Garlic Naan. Spices are graded so that you can have NONE (like I order) or More Spicy several grades up. My companion had a Mango Lassi (yogurt drink) but I just did water for this meal.

The check added up rapidly as the Garlic Naan was the most expensive we have ever bought anywhere in the area and the lunch even with generous portions (enough for 3+ people) added up to over $70.00 without taxes and tip. Delicious... but pricey.

For a less expensive meal, there is Soup and Salad for $11.99 , single entrees with rice, which for vegetarian start at $11.99 and chicken start at $13.99. They also serve lamb and seafood. The portions are large, even for lunch, and they do offer boxes for take home. Dinner portions are larger and more expensive.

TIPS:

  • THERE IS NO BUFFET. (Many people came to enjoy the BOMBAY as they were not familiar with Indian cuisine, making the buffet extremely popular. KASHISH should consider this option)
  • ITEMS ARE ALACARTE: We thought that there should be reduced size and prices, and have optional side items without committing to another entrée size portion. Naan bread, for example,  was not included with the meal.
  • FOODS ARE HIGH QUALITY: We do think that the food served there is very high quality and definitely will go back again, however for Warren County they do need to think about prices as well as again a reintroduction to Indian cuisine with some sort of “buffet plate” or sampler option. Many people who did not get try the Bombay are still NOT familiar with Indian cuisine and are not sure about what to even try.
