WARREN COUNTY, OH -- Congressman Greg Landsman (D-OH-01) announced his bipartisan bill to help Ukraine track their abducted children by Russia was signed into law.

Congressman Landsman’s bipartisan bill – the Abducted Ukrainian Children Recovery and Accountability Act – will reestablish the U.S. Department of State's program to provide the Ukrainian government with technical and training assistance to track the abducted children.

The Yale School of Public Health’s Humanitarian Research Lab estimates up to 35,000 children from Ukraine have been kidnapped and deported to Russia during the war.

In March, Congressman Landsman uncovered a cut to a State Department program tracking stolen Ukrainian children and pressed Secretary Rubio to temporarily restore its funding.

“We can’t wait for a peace agreement to bring these children home. They’re being hidden in Russia’s adoption system, sent to indoctrination camps, and in some cases even trained to fight against their own country. That’s why this data is so critical, and why we won’t stop until every child is reunited with their family and back where they belong,” Landsman said.

Landsman’s bill was included in Congress’ National Defense Authorization Act, which was signed into law by President Trump Thursday night.
