CARLISLE, OH -- Carlisle Railroad Days announced on its Facebook Page earlier today (Aug., 15, 2024) that the 2024 Carlisle Railroad Days will have two Grand Marshalls this Saturday... Beckett and Oakley Smith.
"In this community, we wrap our arms around each other. Give each other strength when it’s needed, and we love on each other in the hardest of times. This past year, our community suffered a hard loss of a friend, a young mother, a very special community involved and loving person, Mackenzie Smith," explained Brian Morris, a Carlisle Railroad Days organizer.
Mackenzie, who is the mother of Beckett and Oakley, lost her life back in March due to injuries obtained from a car crash.
"She had a love for this community that was immense and she loved her boys fiercely. Her energy was one of a kind," Morris explained, adding, "Mackenzie never knew a stranger and never missed a game or event when it came to her boys."
Carlisle Railroad Days is an annual community event held on the school grounds at 250 Jamaica Road. The festival includes live music, food, craft vendors and fireworks on Saturday sponsored by local business owner Jim Gross of Gross Lumber, Carlisle Mayor Randy Winkler, Franklin Township, Puroclean, Liberty Station Apartments, Duke Energy, Big Daddy Dumpsters and First Onsite.
