DISCOVERING WARREN COUNTY’S CHUBBY’S PIZZA

SOUTH LEBANON, OH -- When you live in Warren County for over 25+ years, you think that you know all of the great pizza places to enjoy. But this past week, spurred on by National Pizza Week, we checked out a list of ALL local pizza restaurants... and sure enough, we had never been to Chubby’s Pizza.

Chubby’s Pizza certainly isn’t new. This restaurant has been around since 1985 and is so popular in Eastern Warren County that there are 3 of them! We weren’t sure if it was just a “carry out” as the only one we had ever seen was near the South Lebanon Little Miami Bike Trailhead and features a “Whippy-Dip” ice cream stand. Checking it out online, we called and found out it is a real restaurant. And although they have carry out and delivery, you can also eat in.

This is a really cute and clean family restaurant. When entering, we were greeted by Andrew, who is a manager at the South Lebanon location. The menu is more impressive than just pizza. Chubby’s has salads, appetizers, hoagies, calzones, wraps, entrees and even hamburgers... so there is definitely something for everyone. If you wanted to, you could eat there every day of the week and order something different!

As it is a pizza restaurant, we certainly wanted to try the most popular pizza. There are a diversity of pizzas available including one with Grippo Potato Chip flavors! We considered the Chicken Teriyaki, but Andrew suggested that we go with the Chubby’s Deluxe, which has a load of toppings including green and black olives.

My companion wanted to try the Sampler Appetizer which includes chicken, jalapenos with cheese, mozzarella sticks and deep fried pickles with assorted dipping sauces.

The Pizza was different from other local pizzerias as it was lighter sauce and heavy with toppings. This made it very hearty and a small 10”pizza was a filling and hearty lunch with 6 pieces (3 for each).

Usually, this might be a pizza for one, but with splitting the Sampler appetizer, we were satisfied.

Prices are reasonable. For example, the Sampler Appetizer was $12.99, the Deluxe Small Pizza (with hand tossed crust) $14.49. Fountain and canned drinks are available. This is certainly on budget for many of our readers.

We really enjoyed our lunch at Chubby’s and do plan on coming back. The Whippy-Dip opens for the summer season in March. Everyone we met at Chubby’s from the staff to the other patrons were so nice. The “down home” relaxed atmosphere certainly is welcome in today’s busy world, and the pizza was just one of the best in the county! Definitely check them out.

CHUBBY’s PIZZA is in South Lebanon, Morrow and Blanchester. To learn more about Chubby's visit their website at chubbyspizzaonline.com
