Dave Woehr captured these two groundhogs watching something. Perhaps they were waiting on Phil to tell them to retreat back into their den for 6 more weeks.
It’s Groundhog Day and many eyes were on Punxsutawney Phil this morning (Feb., 2, 2025) to see if he saw his shadow. The report came in and Punxsutawney Phil, who lives in Gobbler’s Knob in Pennsylvania, did see it!
So what does that mean for those of us living here in the U.S.?
According to Pennsylvania Dutch superstition, if a groundhog emerges from its burrow on Feb., 2 and sees its shadow, winter will go on for six more weeks and spring will not arrive early. Guess this means, we better not put our snow blowers or shovels away just yet.
