WARREN COUNTY, OH -- Youth from across Ohio put their beef industry knowledge to the test during the Ohio Beef Youth Council (OBYC) Beef Cuts Identification contest held Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Buckeye Cattlemen’s Summit in Marysville, Ohio. And, Warren County's Caraline Holden placed second in the Intermediate Division.
The Beef Cuts Identification contest is one of five total contests available to youth through the OBYC Stockmanship program sponsored by AgCredit. The Beef Cuts contest is an educational competition open to beef industry youth and designed to strengthen participants’ understanding of beef carcass composition and retail cuts. Contestants demonstrated their skills across multiple focus areas, including identification, measurement, grading, and marketing.
The contest consisted of four age divisions: Beginner, Junior, Intermediate, and Senior. A total of 31 exhibitors completed the contest. The top five results for each age division can be found below:

The Beef Cuts Identification Contest is one of several OBYC stockmanship contests supported by the Ohio Cattlemen’s Association and the Ohio Beef Council. These contests aim to promote industry knowledge, hands-on learning, and leadership development among Ohio’s next generation of beef producers and advocates. Registration is open through Feb. 7 for the next contest Prepared Speaking to be held Feb. 21 in Columbus. Overall OBYC Stockmanship contest awards will be presented for each of the four age divisions at an end-of-the-year OBYC celebration event being planned for June.
