MASON, OH -- Several hundred employees of builder Barton Malow and its subcontractors are making Mason home this year as they work on the transformation of the Cincinnati Open campus. The group of construction workers came together to give back to the community of their current project in an overwhelming fashion.
Through the Mason Deerfield Chamber, Barton Malow’s team was put in touch with St. Susanna Catholic Parish. The church had seven families in need of assistance for a merry Christmas.
The construction company’s employees and subcontractors “adopted” all seven families, took a look at their wish lists and donated nearly 500 gifts. While many of the wish list items were simply clothing and toiletries, the builder and its subcontractors made sure to donate lots of toys, too.
“The enthusiastic response of all the teams working on this project to help these families in Mason was heartwarming to see,” said Beau Miller, Barton Malow Senior Project Manager. “We are grateful for the chance to make a difference in this community that has been very welcoming while we have been working on the Cincinnati Open campus project.”
With such an extraordinary response in donations, extra cash and gift cards collected were used to donate about $1,000 of food to the Mason Food Pantry, which is still soliciting donations for the holiday season.
The subcontractors whose employees participated in the donations are:
- Sehlhorst Equipment Services
- AC Green Metalworks
- Concord Fire Protection
- Riegler Blacktop, Inc.
- Thomas J Dyer Company
- Liberty Sheet Metal
- Champion Bridge Company
- Prus Construction Company
- Reddy Electric Company
- Cincinnati Mosaics
- Henry Gurtzweiler
- Nelson Stark
- Rizzo Brothers Painting
- LRT Restoration
- Triton Services
- B&J Electrical Company

Work on the Cincinnati Open’s campus transformation began a week after the 2024 Cincinnati Open in August and will be completed in time for the 2025 tournament. The project will nearly double the size of the campus to more than 40 acres as the tournament grows to host larger fields (96 singles players, up from 56) over more days (14, up from nine). The tournament growth will also allow for expanded public use facilities in Mason, with more outdoor tennis courts, an indoor tennis center, pickleball and padel courts plus a restaurant that will be open year-round.
Founded in 1899, the Cincinnati Open is one of five events in the world to feature concurrent, top-tier ATP and WTA 1000-level tournaments, joining Madrid, Miami, Rome and Indian Wells, Calif. The 2024 Cincinnati Open attracted more than 200,000 spectators and crowned the eventual year-end No. 1 players – Aryna Sabalenka and Jannik Sinner –as its singles champions. The 2025 Cincinnati Open will be held Aug. 5-18.
