MASON, OH -- At this time of year, most of us could use a little sunshine and definitely some delicious fresh tastes. Visiting TORTILLERIA GARCIA, we enjoyed the food and meeting the friendly staff. Having never been to a “Tortilleria “ before, we didn’t know what to expect.

This one is part of a local chain ( locations in Mason, Springdale and Cincinnati) and traces roots to Michoacan, Mexico, where Omar Garcia’s grandmother taught him how to make corn tortillas. Each tortilla is made at the restaurant and made fresh every day. This is different from most places where premade tortillas are used in the dishes which are served.
We talked to Nick, Mason's manager, for guidance for we had a difficult time deciding on our lunch entrees as they serve tacos, tamales, burritos and rotisserie chicken with a variety of sides, which all sounded amazing. There are combo platters and ala carte options.
Taco Tuesday is celebrated with mini tacos, which are only $1.25 !
After some thought, we ordered the regular Taco Combo Platter, with chicken and pork. (Steak is also available.) This came with beans and rice.
Taco platterMy companion loved tamales and ordered that combo platter and was delighted to see the tamales wrapped and served in traditional corn husks!
Tamales wrapped and served in traditional corn husks!Various sauces are available to enhance your order. Fountain drinks and ice tea are available . Frozen desserts are an option after the meal if you still have room.
The meals were fresh and delicious and prices were budget friendly. The Taco Combo Platter was $12.99 and the Tamale Combo Platter was $13.49. Soft drinks : $2.50 each.
The service was super quick, as you get your own beverages, and the kitchen is right there. Parking is just outside as this is in a strip center. We enjoyed our lunch and will plan to add this to our places to eat often in Mason !
Interior of Mason's Tortilleria GarciaTIP: We went for a late lunch around 2 pm, and it was less crowded. This restaurant is near the office parks of Mason, so be prepared for more folks during the 12-2 time slot. Tortelleria Garcia also is open dinner hours, and they DO have carryout, which is something to consider. Currently, they do not have online ordering, so you have to call: 513-492-7030 or 513-486-3016 to place those carryout orders. Catering is available if you are looking for your party event.
