LEBANON, OH -- With the interest in Warren County for quilting, this is an exhibit not to miss. Most of us remember the amazing Warren County Quilt Shows of the past at the Harmon Museum and at the Fairgrounds, which are no longer held here locally. We still have many quilters in Warren County and the Warren County Quilt Guild.
Currently, INDIGO AND THE ART OF QUILT MAKING is on view at the TAFT MUSEUM OF ART (316 Pike St. Cincinnati, Ohio 45202) until January 11.
Doll quilt (1840-50)This unique show is focused around the use of classic Indigo dyes and their use in crafting quilts from the 1800s through the current day. Each quilt on display has indigo in the patterns. Twenty quilts are on display, as well as a video demonstration of the indigo dye process. A display also shows the range of indigo dying techniques, which produce various effects on the fabrics. The most exciting part of the exhibit is the diversity of the quilts on display and the artistry involved in making them.
1844 Oak Leaf patternThis exhibit was organized by the International Quilt Museum at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, which has the largest public quilt collection in the world.
