DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP, OH -- Wawa continues its expansion in Ohio with a grand opening event in Deerfield Township, marking Wawa’s eighth store in Ohio and second store in Warren County.
The store, located at 5308 Fields Ertel Rd., will open its doors for business for the first time on Friday, December 12th at 8:00 a.m., with Wawa General Manager, Tyler Morrow, doing the honors of counting down the moment starting at 7:55 a.m.
At 8:30 a.m., customers are invited to participate in a brief ceremony to celebrate the new store team and the positive impact associates will have on the community. To celebrate the grand opening, the store will be handing out free t-shirts for the first 100 customers, as supplies last. Also free any size hot coffee will be available through December 14th.
Wawa’s “Hoagies for Heroes” (hoagie-building competition between local police and fire departments) will begin right after the official 8:30 am ribbon cutting ceremony. Also Wally Goose, Wawa's mascot, will be there to dance with customers and for photo opportunities.
"Wawa is thrilled to continue its Midwest expansion with the opening of its eighth store in Ohio. Over the next 5-8 years, Wawa plans to build and open 6-10 stores per year in Ohio, with expectations to open up to 60 stores in the state. To build each store, Wawa will invest more than $7.5 million and employ, on average, 140 contractors and local partners. Once open, each store will employ an average of 35 associates, with Wawa expecting to create 2,100 new, long-term new jobs as a result of expansion in Ohio," reads the Wawa press release.
